How our weekly sessions work: Read Here

Yoga Roots Collective offers Workshops, courses, and group classes, for public, private and corporate groups, as well one-to-one bookings, including (but not limited to) the following styles:

YOGA ROOTS (SURYA ROOTS / CHANDRA ROOTS)

Unique to YRC and inspired by The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Yoga Roots is a journey through the foundational elements of a holistic yoga practice, grounding and stabilising mind and body by use of traditional breathing techniques, dynamic and static postures, systematic application of internal energy locks and channels and, of course, meditation.

You will leave not only inspired, energized and rejuvenated, but – more importantly – aware and present to who you are and who you really want to be. Also, that glow tho!

YIN YOGA

It's easier to say what Yin Yoga isn't than to tightly define what it is. As a yoga practice it's quite new, dating back from the 1990s, but based on millennia of Daoist wisdom, it's a process of allowing, unfolding and exploration. Postures are held for a relatively long time, with a receptive attitude of mind and body. Muscles are allowed to relax, facilitating a gentler but deeper stretch and opening for the connective tissues, the fascia, where a good deal of emotional tension is stored, thereby potentially releasing blocks and tensions.

With the modernised twist, YRC provides a fresh outlook on the grounding reflection, that is Yin yoga. Receiving the energy from the Earth and allowing gravity to draw us into a deeper cosmic union to the self.

 "We don't use the body to get into the posture, we use the posture to get into the body"

YOGA NIDRA

Yoga Nidra, often referred to as "yogic sleep," is a guided meditation and relaxation technique that allows you to reach a state of profound relaxation while remaining consciously aware. During a Yoga Nidra session, you systematically relax different parts of your body and mind, aiming to reduce stress, promote inner awareness, and improve overall well-being.

Apart from the obvious association with sleep and relaxation, Yoga Nidra is a tried and tested technique for re-energising mind and body, enhancing mental performance, focus and motivation, whilst incorporating visualisations and intention-setting practices that can stimulate enjoyment and gratitude in any aspects of life.

SUKSHMA VYAYAMA

 "Vyayama" = "Exercise"

"Sukshma" = Small/Subtle

Rooted in the deepest, most ancient traditions of Hatha Yoga, Sukshma Vyayama is a set of incredibly simple yet profoundly accessible exercises for each part of the body; starting from the top of the head to the bottom of the toes (leaving no part of the body behind). While focused on "the subtle body", aligning the chakras and cleansing the energy channels by means of matching breath, mental attention and movement. The exercises also serve to strengthen and energise all parts of the conscious mind and spiritual being combined, both separately and as a whole, thereby serving as an effective preparation for any kind of yoga practice.

Despite being firmly established as a daily practice in India, Sukshma Vyayama appears lacking in representation and widely non existent as group class in the UK - an unnoticed impoverishment that we at YRC are determined to address.

VOLCANO HIIT aka "This Ain't Yo Mama's Hot Pilates Class"

The physical benefits of a holistic yoga practice can be invigorated and reinforced by regular cardio and strength-building exercises. YRC's signature "Volcano HIIT" sessions provide exactly that, working both upper and lower body, with a strong emphasis on core stability, combining breath, power and precision, building not just strength but stamina with enduring mental and physical control.
